As almost everyone knows, I love a good food trend. And the most recent trend I’ve been dying to try is grass-fed ghee coffee, or butter coffee.
Ghee is a kind of clarified butter. It has been known to have several health benefits. Ghee, when used well, is known to boost your metabolism as well as strengthen your bones, due to its high calcium content.
What’s Butter Coffee?
Butter coffee is a blend of hot coffee, grass-fed ghee, coconut oil, and other add-ins. Ideally, the best way to make it is to blend it in a bullet or blender. What you’re left with is a yummy, frothy coffee that kick-starts your body’s digestion.
I wasn’t ever quite sure the right mix of stuff to blend up in my coffee. For a long time I was trying with just straight coconut oil, almond milk, sometimes even collagen. It never tasted great and I wasn’t feeling any change. Then Omega Power Creamer reached out to me and offered to send me a bottle of their creamer to try.
At first, I was super skeptical. I had never used ghee at all in anything and didn’t love the creamer’s consistency. It’s thick, so mixing it in with a normal spoon on-the-go doesn’t work. But after messing around for a bit, butter coffee is my new favorite thing! And it’s all thanks to this creamer.
Omega’s power creamer comes in three flavors: cacao, original, and vanilla. I tried the original and am in love! It has a combo of grass-fed ghee, coconut oil, and MCT oil, which means that it’s lactose free.
Here’s my all-time favorite butter coffee recipe:
- 1 coffee mug full of hot coffee
- 1 tablespoon of Omega Power Creamer (about two squirts)
- a splash of almond milk
- a dash of cinnamon
Blend it all together in your bullet or blender for about 20 seconds, then pour in a mug and enjoy!
For me, butter coffee isn’t yet an everyday thing. I do love it, but sometimes, when I’m in a rush, I don’t have the time to whip out my blender. I suggest that when you do though, try this creamer!
