Alright, let’s be real, I love food trends. Seriously! I think it’s so cool to find out what people love to eat and what products or foods get popular! Right now, the new hot trend is collagen.
What is collagen?
Collagen is a protein. It’s present in our bodies by giving our hair, skin, nails, and bones structure. As we get older, our bodies naturally tend to produce less collagen, so adding it back into our diets tends to be important! It’s made up of amino acids, which help keep our skin, hair, and gut healthy! Collagen is also responsible for 70% of the protein in our skin, so I guess you could say it’s necessary!
How do you eat it?
I got this great bag of collagen peptides from Veisé Beauty a few weeks ago! It’s in powder form so it’s super easy to use and works just like protein powder, but completely flavorless. I add a spoonful to my coffee every morning and can’t taste it at all! I wouldn’t recommend mixing it into iced drinks (my roommate tried to put some into her iced coffee yesterday!), but I’ve tried it in smoothies as well and I love it!
I don’t eat meat and stick mostly to fish and other forms of protein, so not gonna lie, adding collagen into my diet was a slight shock to my system. The first few days of taking it regularly, I felt a little sick. But within a week, I was feeling great!
