It’s hot here in Phoenix, AZ and if you’re like me, you’re probably constantly on the lookout for ways to cool off! Here are three fun and cheap events happening this weekend!
1. unexpected at Brelby Theatre Co.
Brelby Theatre Co., run by Shelby and Brian Maticic, is known for being the go-to new works spot in the valley. They always produce high quality, professional shows, and unexpected is no exception. Written by John Perovich, unexpected follows the lives of three daughters and their over-protective mother as they fight for those they love. Mixing in Greek mythology with modern day characters, this show keeps you on your toes! I saw the show with my sister, Thea, on opening weekend and we were blown away by the quick banter, audience engagement, and amazing pacing! Thea still talks about it! Check out Brelby’s website and buy tickets for their last two weekends here. Tickets range from $17-$25 and bring your teenagers!
2. Summer Block Party Hosted by Sutra Studios
Love yoga? How about the Phoenix Farmer’s Market? Well if you do, then you should definitely check out the Summer Block Party this weekend at the Phoenix Public Market! Hosted by Sutra Studios, this event is always a hit, so get there early. All you need is a mat and some water and you’re good to go. The event is on Saturday June 3rd. Check in opens at 8:30am and yoga begins at 9am outside next to the open air market! Oh yeah, and did I mention this event is free? Check it out here!
3. Space 55’s Summer Sing-A-Thon
Last but not least, check out Space 55’s Summer Sing-A-Thon fundraiser! Unlike most theatre fundraisers, this one encourages the audience to get on stage! Sing some karaoke, enter the raffle to win art, enjoy light snacks and refreshments, and mingle with some of the downtown Phoenix artists who make this community so great! The event is on Saturday June 3rd, begins at 9:30pm and tickets are $10 at the door. But if you’re planning on popping in for 7 Minutes Under the Sun beforehand at 8pm, your ticket will get you into the fundraiser for free! Check out more information here.
